Hemodialysis With Your New HeRO® Graft
The HeRO Graft is cannulated just like a standard graft, usually two to four weeks after implant. Your dialysis team won’t need to learn any new techniques or change their procedures, but there are some tips and tricks to getting the best results.
YOU can help your dialysis teams get the most from your HeRO Graft if you remind them to:
- Rotate cannulation sites in the graft part of your access
- Use a light tourniquet to dilate the graft, if needed
- Don’t use fistula clamps after dialysis
- Avoid taking your blood pressure, drawing blood, or starting an IV using your access arm
